I most often review books of nonfiction and poetry, though I am open to fiction in the right contexts. With nonfiction, I prefer ethnography, science, and essays grounded firmly in sociopolitical issues. I gravitate toward poetry that is socially and politically conscious and challenges traditional structures, but the most important element is a strong voice. I’m not the best person to review collections of form poetry. As much as possible, I review marginalized voices and seek to elevate authors on independent presses.
